Every late December, the city of Accra transforms into the epicenter of the global African diaspora. And at the beating heart of this annual pilgrimage stands AfroFuture (formerly Afrochella), held across the sprawling grounds of El-Wak Stadium.

What began in 2017 as an ambitious dream by founders Abdul Karim Abdullah and Kenny Agyapong Jr. has blossomed into a world-renowned festival of African music, visual arts, culinary gastronomy, and cultural dialogue.

What sets AfroFuture apart from standard music festivals is its holistic curation:

• The Food Experience: Over 50 food vendors serving authentic delicacies from across the continent—from Ghanaian Waakye and Jollof to Nigerian Suya, Senegalese Thieboudienne, and Jamaican Jerk.

The 2025/2026 edition delivered some of the most memorable festival moments in recent memory.

Headline sets by Ghanaian heavyweights King Promise, Stonebwoy, and Black Sherif had tens of thousands of voices singing in unison under the Accra night sky. Surprise guest appearances from Nigerian stars and international diaspora artists underscored the festival’s pan-African spirit.
